When you fill out form 4473 you are required to write down you CURRENT ADDRESS on the form.
You are also required to present valid government issued ID that shows that CURRENT ADDRESS as well as a PHOTO and your DATE OF BIRTH.
If you have a Utah CFP or Utah Drivers License with your CURRENT ADDRESS on it you are good to go. Simple as that. If the address on your DL or CFP is not current, well then we have a problem.
NOTE: A sticker with your current address on the ID does NOT qualify. Yes, it is what the drivers license guys and CFP guys tell you to do, but it does NOT qualify for NICS background check purposes. It's federal rules here, not state rules.
So what do you do if your government issued photo ID does NOT have your current address listed on it. First you can go get a new drivers license or CFP. Or you have to provide me some form of government issued documentation that does show your name and current address. Here are some things that qualify:
city bill
vehicle registration certificate
power bill
tax document
school ID
The critical thing is the document MUST be government issued and show your current address.
If the address on your form 4473 and on your ID matchs then we are good to go. Keep in mind it is illegal to write down an incorrect address on form 4473. We will not knowingly transfer a firearms to someone we belive is not completing the form 4473 truthfully.
Typically we will only sell guns and provide transfers to residents of the state of Utah.
Non-Residents:
If you are NOT a resident of the state of Utah, we can still sell you guns. However we can NOT give the gun to you. We need to ship it to the state of which you are a resident of and you complete a transfer with the FFL we ship the gun to. We do this often with residents of the state of Idaho. We use a FFL in Preston and simply ship the gun there and you pick up the gun in Preston. As a side note you will not pay Utah sales tax on this transaction.
