Many people like to purchase firearms off the internet. It can be a great way to get hard to find firearms and sometimes can even save you money on new guns. If you decide to purchase a firearm off the internet you will need to go through a FFL to help you with the purchase. We are an FFL. We charge $20 per firearm for this service on your FIRST transfer. Subsequent transfers are $15 per firearm. We only do transfers for residents of the state of Utah with VALID ID. Basically here is how it works.
1. Shop the internet to find the gun you want. Make sure when you are looking at prices you add in shipping fees and transfer fees. If you decide you want to buy off the internet, proceed with the purchase. You will pay the seller directly for the firearm and the shipping. We have nothing to do with this.
2. At some point during the purchase you will have to provide the seller with information on the company that will be handling the transfer for you. This is who they can legally ship the firearm to. This would be My Favorite Gun Store. The seller will need a copy of our FFL. HERE IS A COPY OF OUR FFL. You then provide the seller with this information. It is YOUR responsibility to provide a copy of our FFL to the seller. So please email us and we will promptly email you a copy of our FFL... then how you get it to the seller is up to you.
3. The seller ships the firearm to My Favorite Gun Store. You are welcome to notify us when you have a gun on it's way, but we won't reply to those emails and frankly you don't need to tell us a gun is on the way. If you email us asking if you gun is here yet, your transfer price will go up $5 per email! Just kidding. But seriously don't email us repeatedly asking if you gun is here yet. I know you are excited about your gun, but you are just going to have to be patient.
4. Once we have the firearm, we will contact you and arrange a time to complete the transfer. You come to our store, fill out the appropriate paperwork (Form 4473) and we then transfer (give) the gun to you. You will pay us $20 per firearm on your first transfer and $15 per firearm on subsequent transfers. You will also need to pay an additional $7.50 for a NICS background check. (If you have a CFP you NEVER have to pay this NICS fee.) Transfer fees are payable in CASH OR CHECK ONLY! Transfers with VISA are accepted but are $25 per gun. No exceptions. Please come prepared with cash or check and save both of us time and money.
5. You walk out the door with your gun!
Again, transfers and internet purchases are quick and easy to do, but you do NOT always save money doing it. You can expect to pay $15 - $35 for shipping and then the $15-$20 fee to us to deal with all the paperwork. Usually it is cheaper to buy new guns directly from us. However, some old or difficult to find guns are much easier to get off the internet. Also used guns are readily availble from the internet. Just make sure you do your homework and know exactly what you are getting. Our best advice is: buyer beware.
